P.E.N was founded in January 2023 as a way of encouraging new pig keepers, furthering the discussions on pork production, and generally to be an inclusive and outward looking part of the pig sector. PEN aims to provide educational information for all types of pig keeper, but particularly aimed at those independant producers, breeders and keepers who are not part of commercial syndicates or supply chains.
Vision Statement
PEN will be the hub of knowledge exchange, training material, and cooperation for UK pig keepers of any scale. Whether you have a 100 sow pork production enterprise, or 2 “pet” pigs with no production (and everything inbetween), PEN will be the place to go to find information, support, and training relevant to your particular context. PEN also facilitates the creation of “communities of interest”, to build better support networks for pig keepers of all scales & contexts.
